Sarah Gentle

SEMH Specialist Teacher, Norfolk LA

BA

Sarah Gentle completed an Education degree at Middlesex
University, where she specialised in SEND for her final year, and
qualified as a teacher in 1980. She has completed her National
Award for SEN Coordination and her advanced SENCO course.
Sarah has worked in a variety of educational settings in
Hertfordshire, London, and Norfolk, both in schools and for charities,
with children and young people of all ages. Her extensive experience
has included working as a SENCO in different settings. She has been a
SENCO in mainstream schools, in a pupil referral unit, at the Short
Stay School for Norfolk and across a cluster of 8 schools. She has also
worked as an Advisory Teacher for Learning and a Specialist Learning
Support Teacher (SEMH) with an Educational Psychology service.
Currently she is working as a specialist teacher supporting SEMH
bases across Norfolk.
From her very first teaching job, Sarah prioritised children’s
emotional wellbeing, recognising that this is the foundation upon
which all other learning is built. She has always used play, drama, art,
books, and story to help children make sense of their emotional
experiences. Sarah trained in Therapeutic Storywriting in 2022 and is
now an accredited trainer for Norfolk LA.
